SOLO Taxonomy supports teachers to classify learning outcomes in terms of their complexity, enabling SOLO stands for the Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes. It is a model first proposed by John Biggs and Kevin Collis (1982) in Evaluating the Quality of Learning: The SOLO Taxonomy. It has strong parallels with James Nottingham’s Learning Pit ® and can help guide the feedback process. What is SOLO Taxonomy?

It has strong parallels with James Nottingham’s Learning Pit ® and can help guide the feedback process. The SOLO taxonomy as a model for learning was found to improve the quality of learning. Compared to the control group significantly more strings and structured relations between these strings were present in the test group after the SOLO taxonomy had been introduced (P < 0.01, one tailed test for both results). Se hela listan på pamhook.com What is SOLO Taxonomy? SOLO is a model or taxonomy of learning. The SOLO model classifies students’ learning outcomes from any activity, unit or classroom programme. Teachers and students can use it to easily sort learning outcomes into three levels of knowledge: • surface knowledge • deep knowledge • conceptual (or constructed) knowledge.

In categorising learning outcomes SOLO also outlines the learning process.
